Jorge Santiago-Blay, Adjunct Faculty

Dr. Jorge Santiago-Blay currently serves as a Research Associate at the Smithsonian’s Natural Museum of Natural History. Also, he is the Editor-in-Chief and publisher of an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal, Life: The Excitement of Biology.

The focus of his research seeks to provide answers to this question: what processes cause and what patterns correlate with speciation and biodiversity? He has had the pleasure of collaborating with numerous colleagues engaged in research projects. These projects include subjects as diverse as: plant developmental genetics, insect cytogenetics, aquatic ecology, reconstruction of ancient communities preserved in the fossil record, forensic ecology, environmental ethics, biological illustration, biology education, history of science, and many others. In collaboration with each person, some of them students, research initiatives are written and reviewed. Hence, competitive grant proposals are submitted for funding and papers submitted for publication.
