Jon West-Bey, Adjunct Faculty

Jon West-Bey is currently the Curator of the Arts Program at the University of Maryland, University College (UMUC). His work is currently focused on curating UMUC’s public spaces, developing the University’s visual art collection, and producing exhibitions that feature work from local, national, and internationally known artists.

Over his 20 plus year career, Mr. West-Bey has curated over 40 exhibitions and produced and managed numerous award-winning public, educational, and multimedia programs. He spent 10 years as Founding Executive Director of the American Poetry Museum in Washington, DC and served as Chief Curator at the Prince George’s African American Museum in Maryland. He has also served on the boards of numerous organizations including the American Alliance of Museums Professional Committee on Education, Museum Association of New York, and as Chairman of the Dupont-Kalorama Museums Consortium in Washington, DC. He has also published dozens of articles and has presented at conferences and events nationwide.

Mr. West-Bey earned a Master of Science in Leadership in Museum Education from Bank Street College in NewYork City and, completed his undergraduate degree in history at Virginia Commonwealth University.
