Brian Embley, Adjunct Faculty

Brian Embley is an Enterprise Architect with 25 years of experience in spatially enabling enterprises in state and local government, NGOs, utilities and commercial organizations. Currently, Brian directs the Solutions Team at the NJ Office of GIS, NJ Office of Information Technology which strives to grow, support and provide easy access to NJ’s spatial data infrastructure. Prior to working for the State of NJ, Brian spent 7 years as a Solution Architect on Esri’s Patterns and Practices team where he worked with strategic Esri customers in government, utilities and software sectors to align the use of GIS technology with each organizations business goals. Brian specializes in spatially enabling large enterprises, distributed spatial data management and web technologies.

Brian has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers University and Rowan University, teaching a wide array of geospatial technology courses. Throughout his varied GIS career, Brian has developed and taught custom technical training classes for GIS staff and system administrators and has always taken the opportunity to provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
