Andrew Chapkowski, Adjunct Faculty

Andrew Chapkowski is a software developer and Pythonista. He has over 15 years of experience with IT and GIS. Andrew is the lead developer for the ArcGIS API for Python at Esri. He has worked in the fields of agriculture, emergency management, and defense.

Over the years working at Esri, he has assisted in projects like the Ebola outbreak with the World Health Organization (WHO), hurricane disaster relief, international earthquake disaster support, and many other projects. During his Esri and Department of Agriculture tenure, he’s guided and coached many in Python as a scripting language for GIS, as well as general cutting-edge GIS practices.

Andrew has a MS from NW Missouri State University in GeoScience. His research focused on effectiveness of natural bio-control agents on plant pests. Andrew’s undergraduate degree is from Stockton University where he majored in environmental studies and minored in mathematics.  Andrew is an advocate for learning and pushing the boundaries of what GIS can do.
