Activating your Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory (JHED) Login

The Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory is a university-wide online directory of students, faculty, and staff. Every individual is automatically assigned a JHED Login ID. However, if you are a new student or faculty, you will need to activate this Login ID (you only need to activate it once.) To find out what your login ID is and activate it, go to the Johns Hopkins portal website. On the upper right-hand corner, you will see a field to enter all or part of a last name and first name to search. Enter your name and click "Go".

After you click "Go", you should see a screen similar to the following (if more than one Hopkins affiliated person has the same name, you may have to choose the correct individual from a list of names.) The value listed next to the word "Login Id" is your unique Login ID. Jot this down and remember this as this is the login you will use. If you entered your name, clicked "Go", and received no result, call HITS Help Desk at (410) 516-HELP for assistance.

Now that you have your login ID, click on the " First Time Logon" tab on the upper left corner of the screen.

Since this is your first time logging in, enter your login ID in the "First Time Login" field and click "Continue".

You will be asked to enter a password twice, as well as your Date of Birth (mm/dd/yyyy) and the last five digits of your social security number, which the system will use to authenticate you. Once you fill in the values, click "Continue"

Your JHED ID is now activated and you will be taken to your JHED account. You should now see your JHED account management screen, which contains a collection of functionality that you can manage, including changing your password, preferences, web based email, etc. If you do not see the management screen, click the "myJhed" tab on the upper left to go to the screen. Your options will vary but your screen should look similar to the following:

For security concerns, remember that you should logout from your accout when you have completed your activities. To do this, click on the "logout" tab located at the upper right hand corner.

If you need to access your JHED account in the future, go to the portal website at http://my.johnshopkins.edu or http://my.jhu.edu and click the "Click here to Logon" link in the upper left. Enter your JHED ID and password. Once you are authenticated, you will see the "myJhed" tab in the upper left.
