Graduation Application and Ceremonies

Application for Graduation

While commencement occurs once each year in May, degrees are conferred each semester. You may apply for graduation and degree conferment at the beginning of the semester you complete your degree requirements. If you are planning to complete the requirements for your Master's Degree in Summer 2009, Fall 2009, or Spring 2010, please download the Application for Graduation.

Application Deadlines for conferment of degrees in the desired semester are as follows:

Summer 2009: July 15th, 2009 DEADLINE
Fall 2009: October 10, 2009 DEADLINE

Spring 2010: February 19, 2010 DEADLINE

Fill out the form indicating the semester you intend to complete your program requirements and fax the form (if download version) to 202-452-1970. There is a $100 graduation fee for which students will be automatically billed. To manage your student billing online, visit http://isis.jhu.edu.

Students who submit their Application for Graduation will hear from Enrollment Services via e-mail to confirm receipt of their application. General information about Commencement will be mailed out in March from the Registrar with a response card for students to indicate if they are attending the University-wide ceremony and/or the Master's Degree ceremony. A follow up letter outlining further details for attendees will then be mailed out in April from Advanced Academic Programs for the Master's Degree ceremony, and in early May from the Registrar for the University-wide ceremony.

The Johns Hopkins University confers degrees and awards diplomas once a year to all students who have completed requirements during the preceding spring, fall, or summer semesters.
