480.672 Polling for Strategic Communication

Polling is more than a snapshot of who is winning and who is losing. Effective analysis is important for any campaign -- whether one’s object is to elect a candidate for office, position a company or product, or advance an issue. This class concentrates on teaching students the best practices for designing, writing, and conducting polling and how to use the results to formulate a successful communication strategy. Students will critique existing opinion surveys and learn how to read and interpret polls, including those used in political and health campaigns and by corporations and other issue organizations.
