480.658 Public Relations Writing

The primary goal of this course is to help students develop the professional-level persuasive writing skills expected of the best PR practitioners. Students will have weekly writing assignments outside of class and will write on deadline during class time. We will cover various forms of public relations writing including press releases, backgrounders, public service announcements, newsletter articles and op-ed essays. Written work will be judged using 10 tenets of good writing: organization, persuasion, clarity, focus, flow, tone, proper usage, timeliness, accuracy and relevance.
