Registering

Registering for online courses is the same for registering for on-site courses. Within the course schedules, online courses are grouped together and indicated as such. However, to take online courses, you must meet additional technical and policy requirements. The information below provides a detailed description of these requirements and guidelines.

After reading the information, if you have any questions, please contact registration concerning registration questions, or contact online education at 410-516-6496 or advancedonline@jhu.edu concerning questions about technical requirements.

Online Course Requirements

Online Education Test:
This test is designed to help you determine whether your computer meets the requirements to participate in an online course. Furthermore, it tests whether you can devote sustained time and effort to an online course.
Click here to initiate the test.

Residency Requirement:
Online courses in the Advanced Academic Programs are offered as part of the regular degree programs. With the exception of students in the MS in Biotechnology, MS in Bioscience Regulatory Affairs, and the MS in Biotechnology master's degrees, which are available fully online, students receiving any degree in the Advanced Academic Programs must take at least two of the ten courses towards their degree in an on-site classroom. These two courses can be completed in a single term. If additional specifications are required in a given program, that information can be found in the program's section in the current catalog or in the Course Schedule.

Email Account:
To process your registration, we must receive a permanent email address on your registration form. This is the email address to which AAP will send your Welcome email with instructions about accessing and logging into your fully online course.

You can access it anywhere through the web (as you would Yahoo or Hotmail) or by an email program such as Outlook or Eudora.
