I'm very glad that the anthology that's coming out in a few weeks didn't require that our stories hadn't been published before. Today, I was looking through the listings at Poet & Writers and suddenly I see my name in print! What is this? My Clear Lake story had already been published in the summer issue of The Furnace Review. Gee, you would think they could have told me! Anybody else had anything like that happen before????

Mary,
First of all, "Clear Lake" is really a nicely done story. Congratulations. If anyone out there in forum-land would like to read it, see http://www.thefurnacereview.com/index_summer08.htm. Hey, maybe someday out of the blue you'll get a check in the mail because your story has been used for an HBO movie, and nobody thought to tell you.
And, yes, I once got an email from a friend saying that he saw my story in such and such pub, which was total news to me.

Thanks! I did hear back from the editor to say that they did notify me. She forwarded the email. But it had the wrong email address. Seems strange that anybody would publish something without getting an okay back. I'd forgotten that I submitted the story to them so I was at fault too. I had this nice table where I'd been keeping track of my submissions that I misplaced when I moved my office at home. Still haven't found that sucker! O well. Sounds like they don't worry so much about such things since you had it happen too.
