The Instructional Resources Center will be offering a training session for faculty preparing to move their AAP courses online in either the Fall '09 or Spring '10 semesters (or beyond--it's never too early!)
The training will be held on Tuesday June 30th from 6-9pm at the DC campus of AAP, room 418. A light supper will be served starting at 5:30 in room 416.
This session will include:
* A brief overview of the pedagogical considerations one needs to make when moving a course online
* An introductory tools training on the most commonly used Sakai tools
* A demonstration of Adobe Connect, a live conferencing system frequently used for online office hours and review sessions

Open Office Hours
Ask questions about Getting Started, Content Modules, Test and Quizzes, Adobe Connect or specific items about your course. Bring your materials with you in Electronic Form. Strategies for Delivering Your Onlinve Course
This training will discuss strategies for communicating with your students during the semester, managing your time as you teach online, and Sakai tools most commonly used during the semester.
Sakai Basics: Explore the options for posting your syllabus and adding course content in Sakai, including use of PowerPoint slides, Word documents, HTML and the Melete content module. Melete Modules & JForum Discussions

Explore Sakai , use the assessment tools like quizzes, assignments and grade book . Adobe Connect Internet Meeting, Student Presentations and Other Topics -- Presented by AAP
Adobe Connect is a web-based, synchronous communication tool, allowing students and instructors to interact in real time. Instructors can present PowerPoint presentations, share websites, and even show applications they are running on their local computer with students. Adobe Connect transmits audio and video to all students, and allows for the recording of sessions for students to listen too on their own time. This training covers the setup and running of Adobe Connect sessions. Approximate run time is 1.5 hours. Sakai from the Ground Up offered by Engineering for Professionals -- EP
An in-depth training focuses on each of the tools in Sakai to make faculty successful in their class, whether face-to-face or online. This training will walk participants through Sakai, from setting up a course to using each tool. This is a hands on session, please be prepared to spend time beginning the course setup process while in this session.
