I graduated in December 2017. Can I attend the ceremonies in May?

I will graduate in Summer 2018 – the semester just following the graduation ceremonies. Can I attend?
Unfortunately, you cannot. Only students who graduate prior to the 2018 ceremonies (Summer 2017, Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 can attend.)
What is the difference between the two ceremonies?
You are welcome to attend both, either one, or neither ceremony. To help you decide which you’d like to attend, here are some important characteristics of the two events: All students at JHU are invited to the University-wide commencement. At this event, all of the undergraduate and PhD candidates walk across the stage. All degrees are conferred at this event. There are approximately 10,000 people (students, faculty, and guests) in attendance. Historically, about 20-30 KSAS Master’s degree candidates attend this event. Master’s degree candidates do not walk across the stage at this event. The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS) graduation ceremony is for KSAS Master’s degree candidates only. At this event, all master’s degree candidates walk across the stage. There are approximately 2,500 people (students, faculty, and guests) in attendance. Historically, about 450 KSAS Master’s degree candidates attend this event.
My family is traveling from another country to attend my graduation ceremony. Can they receive an invitation letter to help process their visas?
The Office of International Students has told us that an invitation from the graduating school does not help in the processing of travel visas. For this reason, we do not write invitations to family members. However, we hope that they will attend, so we encourage you and your family to look into the visa process as early as possible.
Guests want to accompany me to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences graduation ceremony on Monday, May 22. Do I need tickets?
No tickets are required for this event. Graduates are welcome to invite as many guests as they’d like.
