The MA in Writing Program

The Science Writing Program at Johns Hopkins is the proud partner of the Master of Arts in Writing Program, which has achieved two decades of success with graduate courses in Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Science Writing.

The new MA in Science Writing and Graduate Certificate in Science Writing arose from the MA in Writing Program’s previous concentration in Science-Medical Writing. The new degree and certificate will replace that concentration. Students in the Writing Program’s current Science-Medical Writing concentration will be given information about how they might transfer their studies to the new degree, although they are free to finish the MA in Writing Program if they choose. After the new Science Writing degree and Certificate are launched, the Science-Medical Writing Concentration in the MA in Writing Program will be phased out.

The MA in Writing Program offers onsite courses in Washington DC and Baltimore, with no online offerings planned at this time. With an advisor’s permission, students in the new MA in Science Writing and Graduate Certificate in Science may enroll in MA in Writing Program onsite courses in the DC/Baltimore area.

The Poetry Concentration in the Writing Program is no longer accepting applications.
