Thesis Advisors, 2007-2008 / M.A. in Writing Program

The following instructors or other writers may be available as thesis advisors for M.A. in Writing Program students who enroll in Thesis & Publication in 2007 or 2008.

The program's thesis coordinator or associate program chair must approve all thesis advisors. Not every instructor listed will be available for every term, and some may restrict the number of theses they handle. Additionally, some instructors will set rules for when or how they consider requests to serve as a student's advisor. Students should contact potential advisors directly and are urged to seek an advisor three to nine months before a thesis course begins. Instructors will determine the request(s) they accept, and some instructors may not be appropriate for certain theses. Students who have questions should contact their program advisor, the thesis coordinator, or the associate program chair. More information about instructors, including phone numbers or email addresses, is available at Advanced Academic Programs offices in Washington or Baltimore. Any thesis student who has not arranged for an advisor by the start of a thesis course will be assigned one, so it is in the student's best interest to contact potential advisors early. Remember, students propose advisors; the program must approve each one.

The designations DC (Washington) and/or B (Baltimore) below indicate an advisor's primary teaching location, but students are not limited to instructors who teach at any particular location. (Baltimore students may ask D.C. instructors, etc.) Other instructors not on this list may be willing to serve as an advisor. In rare cases, students may propose a non-faculty member or other outside writer or editor as their advisor, but advance permission is required before such arrangements can be made. See the Thesis Information sheet for more information.
