For the third year, the M.A. in Writing Program is expected to offer limited scholarships in 2010 to current program students. This benefit is funded by the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences, the Advanced Academic Programs, and by the generous contributions of Writing Program and other AAP alumni. We are grateful for the support of all three groups.
Scholarships will be competitively awarded on a combination of merit and need, so students must apply. The next round of applications will be taken in early 2010 for awards that can be used for Fall 2010 and Spring and Summer 2011. The scholarships for the current academic year (Fall 2009 and Spring and Summer 2010) were granted in early 2009.
Please watch this website for information about how to apply for the next round of awards. The information is expected to be posted in January 2010.
Our scholarships are not fellowships to support long-term graduate study. Rather, they vary from enough to cover the tuition for one or two courses, to lesser amounts that fund only part of a course. Applications will be accepted for the next round of awards from any current degree candidate in the program who will have completed at least one course by the end of the Spring 2010 term. Scholarships are not available to anyone who has yet to begin a course. A committee will choose recipients and amounts based on the following:
The next deadline for submitting applications and essays is expected to be in April or May 2010, with applications available in early 2010. We look forward to many applications for these long-awaited scholarships, and we appreciate the kind words of support from previous recipients.
For more information, Writing Program students should contact their faculty advisor.
Good luck!
