The Hopkins Conference on Craft is proud to announce its return to Florence, Italy, for our 2010 creative writing seminars. This will be our third year in one of the most beautiful, important, and fascinating cities in Western Civilization. Our return to Italy follows our successful 2009 conference in Bar Harbor, Maine, plus two previous years in Florence.
Attendees for 2010 are encouraged to invite family and friends, who can attend some conference events. As with previous conferences, attendees also can travel together or find joint housing. Specific dates for the conference will be announced soon, but our tentative target dates are June 27-July 7, 2010. Those dates, if approved, allow students to use their July 4 holiday for the conference.
The conference will soon reveal the nationally known writers who will lead our Florence workshops. Here's what else you can expect:
Participants provide their own travel and housing. Registration will begin early in 2010. Current M.A. in Writing Program students will enjoy priority registration, with discounts and other registration benefits for Writing Program alumni, Writing Seminars students, and other qualified alumni from Hopkins. Non-Hopkins writers and editors will be able to apply for a limited number of reserved slots that will be awarded competitively. The conference cost for current Writing Program students and anyone else who qualifies for graduate course credit will be the regular Summer 2010 tuition rate for any course in the Writing Program, plus a small fee. Alumni and others who attend for non-credit will pay significantly less. To be added to our information and registration announcement lists, please email craftconference@jhu.edu.
We'll see you in Florence in 2010!
