Academic Programs

The Advanced Academic Programs (AAP), a department of the Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, offers 17 part-time master’s degree programs, six graduate certificates, three master’s fellowships, and non-credit programs for adult learners. On-site courses are offered in the evening and on Saturdays to fit our students’ busy schedules.

AAP is spread across four sites: Homewood campus in Baltimore, MD; Washington, DC Center near Dupont Circle; Montgomery County Campus in Rockville, MD; and online.

Special Students

Students who wish to take only a few specific courses may apply as special students.

Course Availability

Courses in all programs are offered in the fall, spring, and summer. The fall and spring semesters both have 14 weeks of instruction. The summer term permits a number of alternate formats; some courses meet for only six weeks, others meet for as many as 12. The hours that faculty and students spend in the classroom are the same regardless of when the course is taught. Compared to the fall and spring semesters, about half the number of courses are offered in the summer term. Additional part-time graduate programs, designed to be relevant to working adults and to meet their professional and personal needs, are currently under development. All programs are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
