Welcome
Benjamin Ginsberg Welcome to the Master of Arts in Government section of the Advanced Academic Programs website. At the Johns Hopkins University Washington Center for the Study of American Government, you will find an exciting environment in which to study the theory and practice of government, politics, and policymaking. The courses are taught by nationally and internationally recognized leaders in the study of American government and politics who are full-time or adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins, guest scholars, or accomplished practitioners from high levels of government or related organizations. We invite you to browse the course descriptions to see the great variety of offerings to study government, politics, and policymaking from cross-disciplinary, historical, and comparative perspectives. Students find the Government program to be an enriching, stimulating, and rewarding graduate study experience. The program maximizes the synergism between your graduate studies and your practical work experience - it is where the theory and practice of government come together and inform each other. The result is our students gain the knowledge and expertise necessary for leadership in politics and administration. Many quickly go on to achieve their professional goals for advancement. Johns Hopkins could be where you can earn your M.A. in government and advance your own personal and professional goals. We welcome an opportunity to discuss that possibility with you, please call Kathy Hill, Associate Chair of the Government Program at 202-452-1953.
