The Applied Economics Program has become an Institutional Sponsor of the National Economists Club, giving our students and alumni easy access to a first rate lecture series offering immense variety. Lectures take place weekly at lunchtime, and our students and alumni are charged only NEC's direct cost of $12 for the lunch [can vary by venue]. The National Economists Club is the Washington D.C. chapter of the National Association of Business Economists.
National Economists Club Lecture Series
Thursdays, at Chinatown Garden Restaurant, 618 H St., NW.
Washington Metro Station: Gallery Place. Restaurant is 1/2 block east of the Metro station's northern (H Street) exit.
Reservations are preferred one business day before an event, but walk-ins are welcome.

Seminars
Applied Economics students and alumni are also welcome at several nearby seminar series. All are econometrically oriented. These seminars are good opportunities to see contemporary work first hand, and to conveniently and pleasantly keep in touch with the latest developments.
- The SAIS International Economics Seminar concentrates on International Trade, Open-Economy Macro and Finance, and Development. The seminar meets Thursdays, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM in our building, Conference Room #714. Meeting dates, names of presenters, and papers can be found here:

- The Massachusetts Avenue Development Seminar (MADS) is an effort by the Center for Global Development and The Paul H Nitze School of Advanced International Studies to take advantage of the incredible concentration of great international development scholars in the Metro Washington, DC area. The series seeks to bring together members of this community and improve communication among them. Meetings are held at lunchtime, at the Center for Global Development, 1776 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Third Floor, across the street.

- A Brown Bag Seminar Series on Forecasting is offered by the George Washington University Economics Department's Research Program on Forecasting together with the Federal Forecasters Consortium, and meets monthly.
