Utpal Vasavada is a Deputy Director in the Economic Research Service of USDA. He has published research papers on investment in agriculture, sustainability, and the economics of foreign direct investment. In his current position, he coordinates the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) that is used to estimate farm income and costs and returns of major agricultural commodities. He has taught at the University of Georgia, Laval University, and USDA Graduate School, and served on details at the Office of Management and Budget and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Utpal received a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Maryland.
