Mason Essif, Adjunct Faculty

Mason Essif, MLA, offers a broad range of skills in media strategy and media relations to his work at Ogilvy.  Prior to joining Ogilvy, he spent 20 years as a broadcast journalist and television producer, specializing in health and medical information for major national broadcast outlets. Mason has covered the beat from Washington, Chicago, and Atlanta, and has traveled the country for science-related stories.

In addition to providing comprehensive media training, he uses his journalistic acumen to help clients develop messages that resonate among reporters and the public-at-large. Mason’s ten years at CNN and five years at Newsweek enable him to provide clients with special insights and a great depth of knowledge in developing strong, effective, and comprehensive earned media initiatives.  His relationships with top-tier reporters and producers help ensure that our clients’ announcements are not only noticed but covered thoroughly and accurately.  Having been a health care journalist in Washington, DC since 1988, Mason has interviewed the leadership of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as far back as the Reagan Administration.
