Laurie McClellan, Adjunct Faculty
Laurie McClellan is a freelance writer and photographer who specializes in writing about science and nature. Her articles and essays have appeared in The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, Arlington Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, Blue Ridge Country, Health Affairs, National Parks, National Geographic, and other publications. Her work has also appeared in literary journals including South Dakota Review and Front Range Review. From 2010 to 2014, McClellan wrote the text for science and nature stamps released by the U.S. Postal Service.
In her former career as a television producer, Laurie wrote scripts for both the National Geographic Channel and the Discovery Science Channel and reported stories for the science news programs Science Daily and Daily Planet. She was nominated for an Emmy for her work covering the Lost Boys of Sudan. McClellan received a B.A. in English from Indiana University, an M.A. in Media Production from American University, and an M.A. in Writing from Johns Hopkins University.
