Dr. Katherine Wellman is a faculty member and coordinator for the Biotechnology Enterprise programs including the Master of Biotechnology Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, the joint MS in Biotechnology/MBA, the MS in Biotechnology concentration in biotechnology enterprise and the Certificate in Biotechnology Enterprise. Dr. Wellman brings extensive experience in various regulatory, operations, training and development, environmental, health and safety and sustainability leadership positions in the pharmaceutical and life science business sectors domestically and internationally. She has headed global auditing teams, served on merger and acquisition teams and consulted in strategic initiatives and policy implementation for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. She also participated in public diplomacy activities by traveling on behalf of the U. S. Department of State as an expert in the governance of bioscience and public-private partnerships.
Dr. Wellman is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, receiving her MS in Biotechnology from the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and an MBA from the Carey Business School. She also earned an MS in Health and Safety from Indiana State University and a BS in Health and Safety, Biology and Public Health with an education emphasis from Ball State University. Katherine received her doctorate in Public Administration at the University of Baltimore completing her dissertation on the governance of science and technology. Her research interests include governing emerging science and technology, sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
Dr. Wellman has developed and teaches Ethical, Legal and Regulatory Aspects of the Biotechnology Enterprise, Strategic Planning for the Biotechnology Enterprise, Social Entrepreneurship in BioScience, Proseminar in Biotechnology and Economic Policy and Support Structures for the Bio Entrepreneur.
