Jennifer Bachner, PhD
Jennifer Bachner, PhD is Coordinator for the MA in Government where she also teaches courses in statistical analysis, survey research methods, public opinion, elections and American political behavior. She received a PhD in government from Harvard University and undergraduate degrees in political science and social studies education from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research examines coalition building in congress, congressional redistricting, the responsiveness of political elites and social science methodology. Her recent report, Predictive Policing: Preventing Crime with Data and Analytics, has been published by the IBM Center for the Business of Government.
Dr. Bachner is also helping to launch the Johns Hopkins Master of Science in Government Analytics. This degree will provide students with the skill set needed to perform sophisticated data analyses that address today’s policy, political and governance challenges.
