Jane Alonso, Adjunct Faculty

Jane Alonso, MPP is the Vice President for Government Relations at the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO), a trade association that represents private forest owners committed to advancing national policies that promote the economic and environmental benefits of privately-owned forests. NAFO membership encompasses more than 80 million acres of private forestland in 47 states.

Prior to joining NAFO, Jane was a Principal at Monument Policy Group, a strategic lobbying and consulting firm in Washington, DC, that represents a broad array of businesses, trade associations, and non-profits. Jane spent ten years on Capitol Hill, serving as Legislative Director to Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and as a Professional Staff Member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where she was part of the staff team that the led the historic effort to write and pass legislation to implement the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations.

A native of Miami, Florida, Jane previously served as a member of Senator Bob Graham (D-FL)’s legislative staff and began her career in the offices of Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and John Mica (R-FL). She has also volunteered on numerous political campaigns. Jane received her Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where she was a Public Service Fellowship merit recipient. She received her Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
