James Norton, Adjunct Faculty
James Norton is the Founder and President of Play-Action Strategies LLC. He is a seasoned executive strategist, policy advisor, political operative, and communicator with expertise in homeland security, cyber security, defense, and public safety.
He previously served as Vice President of Strategy and Communications for General Dynamics Mission Systems, leading interaction with media outlets, government stakeholders, and corporate partners. Before his corporate work, James gained extensive experience in homeland security and federal legislative policy through government service. He was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of Legislative Affairs for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he was responsible for managing homeland security policy for President George W. Bush’s administration as it related to the U.S. House of Representatives. Before joining the Department of Homeland Security, he was Special Assistant to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator and also worked in local politics. James is dedicated to charitable endeavors and serves on several not for profit boards.
