Greg Stevens, Adjunct Faculty
Greg Stevens is a highly-regarded leader in museum professional development, career coaching, and mentoring. Since 2007, Mr. Stevens has directed the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Professional Development program, addressing career management, leadership development, and skills-building for museum colleagues. Programs he has launched include AAM’s webinars and online conferences, the AAM Career Café, Museum Leadership and Career Management Seminar, Emerging Innovators Forum, and Museum Career Lab. In the past decade, he has produced over 500 programs across all functional areas of museum practice—from education to strategic planning; from exhibitions to curatorial practice—reaching 40,000 colleagues and 2,500 institutions. Prior to AAM, Mr. Stevens held positions at the National Museum of the U.S. Army, Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums, National Building Museum, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and Kellogg Performing and Visual Arts School in San Diego, CA.
He earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from The George Washington University, and his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from San Diego State University. Mr. Stevens co-edited (with Wendy Luke) A Life in Museums: Managing Your Museum Career (2012, The AAM Press), has written or edited numerous museum-related articles and book chapters, and has been invited to speak at over two dozen events in the past decade.
