Brent Blackwelder, PhD
Brent Blackwelder, PhD, has been an influential environmental advocate for more than 40 years. He is the founder of the Environmental Policy Center and the Environmental Policy Institute, past President of Friends of the Earth, Chair of the League of Conservation Voters, and the Founding Chair of American Rivers. Blackwelder is on the board of numerous environmental advocacy groups including Tax Justice Network U.S., Gender Action, Potomac RiverKeeper, Foundation Earth, International Rivers, and the Center for the Advancement of a Steady State Economy. Blackwelder was named Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Maryland in 2001 and Vanity Fair Magazine named him “Steward of the Planet” in 2004. He is a monthly contributor to the The Daly News (CASSE Blog).
